Articling Program Overview

Articling is a fundamental part of a student's education. Accordingly, we ensure that each student is properly integrated into the firm so as to feel a part of the ADAIR MORSE LLP team.  It is our goal to maximize our students’ exposure to all aspects of the firm and to provide them with the appropriate guidance and training to ensure a meaningful articling experience.

Due to the size of the firm and the integrated nature of our practices, a formal rotation system is not used but rather a flexible teamwork system is employed. This approach enables our students to work with different lawyers on a broad spectrum of files in various practice areas.  We believe that this exposure to a broad variety of practices and styles is invaluable.

Our articling system provides students with an opportunity to see cases from the initial stages through to completion and, thereby, to gain a more complete understanding of the litigation process.  Our students are not relegated to performing only library research.  The firm strives to ensure that a proper balance is maintained between research duties and practical experience including: attending client meetings, strategy sessions, negotiations, hearings and trials and gaining practical experience in drafting and advocacy.

In addition to working on files with other lawyers at the firm, students at ADAIR MORSE LLP will also have the opportunity to handle matters on their own with appropriate lawyer supervision. Our students are typically given a number of Small Claims Court files to handle up to and including trial. They also regularly argue motions in the Superior Court of Justice and can look forward to assisting at trial during the articling period.
